Lawrence Dobkin was a distinguished American television director, character actor and screenwriter whose career spanned seven decades. A former child actor, Dobkin began working in radio to pay for his studies at the Yale University School of Drama. He understudied on Broadway before serving with a radio propaganda unit of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.
Along with actor / director Andrew Robinson, he is one of only two "Star Trek" non-regulars to both direct and appear in an episode of "Star Trek: the original Star Trek (1966) episode Charlie X (1966) which he directed, and the Star Trek
