Delany notes, "modern critics attempting to wrestle with that influence find themselves dealing with an object rather like the sky or an ocean." He won the Hugo Award for best novel four times, a record that still stands. The Moon is a Harsh Mistress was the last of these Hugo-winning novels, and it is widely considered his finest work.It is a tale of revolution, of the rebellion of the former Lunar penal colony against the Lunar Authority that controls it from Earth. Darth Brutus's Bigger & Badder Book Diary 2022 (107 books items)

"22.2. I remember putting this book down fast when I was a teenager, because I simply found it very flat and boring. Nowadays it's way easier to enjoy about this revolutionary tale when I actually get most (hopefully) of the real life references he's making. The characters are still flat, but it's way above most of Heinlein novels."

Book Diary 2021 (59 books items)

" Subject: It is a tale of revolution, of the rebellion of a former penal colony on the Moon against its masters on the Earth. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Started well enough but tapered out miserably. This is my second and for all intents last reading of Heinlein, DNF Starship Troopers and this was a terrible drudge. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------"
