Carl "Crusher" Creel was a boxer and jailed criminal who becomes the Absorbing Man when he drinks a liquid which the Asgardian god Loki laced with rare Asgardian ingredients. Discovering that he could absorb the properties of anything he touched. He has been a frequent opponent of Thor over the years, as well as The Avengers, Spider-Man, Hulk and many other Marvel heroes.

He is often seen in the company of the super-strong Titania, his girlfriend and partner.
