A 18-year old Prince at home in Minneapolis with his first dog, Shauna during the 70s. Photographed by Robert Whitman (1976)
Prince is the focus: at just 19, he was living and working intensely on the music that would become his debut album, For You. During this period he stayed at his manager Owen Husney’s flat, where life was still pretty ordinary compared with the superstar years that followed. Husney even gave Prince a dog named Shauna, a sweet little detail from a time when Prince was still an unknown young musician in the streets of Minneapolis trying to make his mark on the world.
