It looks like some museum worker was "just following orders" (not an excuse) of some "clever" museum director and vandalized this bust by painting an identification number on it. Shame! They should have used a specially created beautiful box or a stand with an identification number on it instead. Stickers, tags, stamps, and painted numbers never belong on historical objects. People who don't value historical objects should never be in museums. And most Westerners never value their historical objects. Most of these objects are either lost, stolen, destroyed, or stored in closed archives and vaults as dust collectors. And future generations will never know about them.
