During this trip to Florida, Marilyn and Joe would spend time laying on the beach, fishing, and she would also watch him as batting coach for the Yankees. Rumor has it that when the two visited Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel, where the New York Yankees were staying during spring training camp, a piece of the bar is still missing where the owner at the time broke it off for Marilyn to sign.
