It had been four years since Audrey’s last film. Now 42 and living in Rome, she had taken an extended break from acting to focus on her new marriage and 15 month old toddler. In May of 1971, a Tokyo advertising agency offered Audrey $100,000 to appear in four one-minute commercials for Varie wig company. Initially, she turned down the offer, like she had with every script that had been sent to her over the last several years.
But after some careful consideration, Audrey ultimately agreed. The commercial was shot on location in Rome and showed Audrey modeling various wigs in different scenarios. The commercial was only released in Japan.
