Rita Hayworth ~ 1963
There are not what I would consider a lot of quality true color photos of Rita. And nothing shows off her hair like a natural color photo. This one from 1963, when Rita was 45 years old is one of my favorites.
They say Rita aged before her time, and that may be true, but you can not argue how stunning she is in this photo. Classic elegance at it's finest. And as Rita aged she would give some of her finest performances, but once a "pin-up", always a pin-up?
Rita would never receive proper credit or notoriety for her acting performances. "The Lady From Shanghai", Miss Sadie Thompson", "Fire Down Below", "The Story On Page One" and Separate Tables, just to name a few. In fact, Rita's only recognized performance would be when she played "Lili Alfredo" in "Circus World" from 1964. Rita received a Golden Globe Nomination for "Best Actress". She would place third behind winner, Anne Bancroft and runner-up, Ava Gardner. It is such a shame she was passed over time and again. I think I have heard it called the "Curse Of The Pin-up Girl".
