An average movie

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this flick but since I have weak spot for Jonathan Demme’s work, I was quite eager to check this movie. On top of that, there was a really nice cast (Michelle Pfeiffer, Alec Baldwin, Matthew Modine, Oliver Platt, Dean Stockwell, Nancy Travis) so I thought it could be an interesting watch. Apparently, when it was released, it received some pretty good reviews but, to be honest, I thought it was a rather peculiar comedy and I’m not sure I really enjoyed it. I mean, it is basically a really goofy farce, almost a parody of your usual gangter features, there were some really over-the-top characters and I’m afraid it was a little too daft for my taste. Still even though it wasn’t really my kind of comedy, I have to admit that there were still some good things here. For example, Michelle Pfeiffer was as charming as always, she gave an acclaimed lead performance and there is no doubt that the whole thing was quite original. To conclude, even though it wasn’t really a great picture, it was still an decent feature and it is definitely worth a look though, especially if you are interested in Jonathan Demme’s work.
