it's a fantasy-horror with comic and dramatic aspects that in my opinion can not coexist, at least not as did in this film.
I appreciated the photography and special effects:
suggestive environments with dark and dramatic atmosphere well blended with digital effects,
but the script is nothing short of ridiculous:
two scientists pour gallons of formaldehyde into a river as usual, creating a mutant fish that slaughters people without anyone intervening.
At least in Lake Placid involving an eccentric Oliver Platt makes jokes funny, but here are a bunch of idiots, scientists from intervening, invent a virus and party on the riverbank, a blond who mistakes the hand of his daughter, and does kill the father counting fingers, a professional who can not shoot an arrow within 30 minutes etc...
it's a self parody that undermines the good work that is behind the whole film:
"Could be" a good movie, but it isn't.
