StarCraft is set in the distant future, when humanity has expanded beyond the solar system, driven by a desire for expansion, a need for resources, and a desire for dominance.
In this colonization process, the Koprulu sector—a distant and forgotten region of the galaxy—becomes the stage for one of the most momentous wars in the known universe.

There, three antagonistic races not only compete for territory or power, but also represent three opposing visions of existence itself.
