An average movie

Even though I had some rather low expectations concerning this flick, since there was a nice cast involved, I thought I might as well check it out. Unfortunately, the whole thing turned out to be pretty disappointing. First of all, I have seen none of those Barbershop flicks and after seeing this spin-off, I don't really feel up to it... I mean, there was indeed a nice cast (Queen Latifah, Alicia Silverstone, Andie MacDowell, Alfre Woodard, Mena Suvari, Kimora Lee, Kevin Bacon, Djimon Hounsou) but except for Queen Latifah and Djimon Hounsou, all the actors involved were way over the top and it was just plain annoying. For example, I'm still not sure what to make of Kevin Bacon's performance. On one hand, it was pretty impressive because he was barely recognizable, he looked so different, he talked and moved like a totally different person but, on the other hand, it felt really forced so I still have to figure this one out. Anyway, above all, I thought the plot was awfully pedestrian and just plain boring. Queen Latifah was, as usual, very charismatic, she tried very hard and carried the whole thing on her shoulders but it wasn't enough to make this flick entertaining to me. To conclude, I thought it was pretty tedious and it is not really worth a look.
