To be honest, I have to admit that I was never a fan of this franchise but I thought I might as well check this new instalment (in fact, another sequel has already been released in the mean time so I guess I’m still a little bit behind). Well, even though the makers did their best to convince the viewers and maybe themselves that they would deliver something surprising, I thought the end-result was terribly repetitive and predictable after all. Sure, I have to admit that there were a couple of scenes during which I thought ‘Wow.. that was actually quite insane…’ but you are talking about maybe 2 mins of screen time for a movie running almost 150 mins. By the way, that’s probably the biggest issue with this franchise as there is no freaking way that any of these movies required a running time above 2 hrs. The other issue is that, after all these years, Vin Diesel still can’t act whatsoever. I mean, no one did or was even required to really flex their acting skills here but Diesel was just the worst of the bunch and it was especially rather cringe-inducing during the ‘emotional’ scenes. Concerning the rest of the movie, to be honest, I watched it only yesterday and I’m already struggling to remember anything really memorable about it. At least, it is rather fun to see who’s going to show up again (they even brought back a character who was supposed to be dead for almost a decade) and who’s going to be added to the mix this time (John Cena was actually a solid addition). Anyway, to conclude, most of it was rather boring though but the damned thing was still quite successful at the box-office so I guess the fans are still having fun for now but you might wonder for how long they will keep milking this cow.
