In the American version, Godzilla is seen as a necessary evil, a kind of anti-hero. For Japan, Godzilla represents the dread of the post-war era, a nation devastated by the atomic bombs dropped in the World War II. The movie portrays very well all the chaos in which the population is living, trying to recover from the catastrophe left behind. Although the special effects leave something to be desired in some frames, it still manages to deliver a good presentation. The acting from the cast was also good,ย you understand the character's intentions and motivations, unlike Hollywood films where the humans are practically unlikable and have no backstory.
Overall, this movie was a return to the origins of Godzilla, a cruel and radioactive killing machine, with no ulterior motives of looking โgoodโ, or even taking on other kaijus.
Very good for a giant monster movie, worth checking out!
