A good movie

Since I kept hearing some interesting things about this flick and since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, I already knew that Jim Carrey went very far for his performance in 'Man on the Moon' but I didn't know he went so deep. Eventually, even if he never said so during this documentary, I think it was one of the reasons why he was interested in delivering this documentary, the fact that nobody really knew how much he gave while making the damned thing. To be honest, I did see 'Man on the Moon' in the movie theater when it was released but I never saw it again since then and this documentary really made me want to watch it again. Anyway, what I do remember is that it was a decent but fairly generic biopic with a very strong performance by Carrey but, thanks to this documentary, you discover that, behind the scenes, Carrey never really stopped playing or even being Andy Kaufman. By the way, when was the last time that Jim Carrey showed up in something really worthwhile? Well, with this movie, you learn that behind his goofy act, Carrey apparently also wanted to be a massive method actor like Daniel Day-Lewis or Joaquin Phoenix and it must have been difficult or even impossible to combine this ambition with his image of beloved funny guy. Anyway, pretty much like with 'Man of the Moon', my lack of knowledge and/or interest in Andy Kaufman's work still made it a little bit difficult for me to be amazed by what was displayed but it was still an interesting watch and the damned thing is definitely worth a look.
