An average movie

I wasn't really sure what to expect from this flick but since I have a weak spot for David Ayer's work, I was quite eager to check it out. Well, after watching this movie, I understand why he had been chosen to direct 'Suicide Squad' and why it turned out to be a failure. Indeed, pretty much like in 'Suicide Squad', it was dealing with a really badass team of lethal misfits but, also just like in 'Suicide Squad', the story was just a huge mess. Apparently, David Ayer argued that the movie had been heavily cut by the studio but I wonder if a longer running time would have been such an improvement. I mean, I was still able to follow what was going on, it's not that it was so confusing, it's just that it was just really poorly put together. It was basically one of those movies that keep throwing some twists at the viewers hoping that we won't notice how weak the story actually is. It's too bad because this elite DEA squad team was pretty awesome and Arnold Schwarzenegger gave here easily one of his best performances as he had the opportunity to play a much more interesting character than the characters he usually get in his usual action flicks. Anyway, to conclude, I think I might have been rather generous with my rating here but I guess it might still be worth a look, if only to see Arnold Schwarzenegger playing an intriguing character for once.
