Nearly Flawless Classic.

"Dog Day Afternoon" is a nearly flawless classic that combines humor, drama, and a little action into one big masterpiece. In my opinion it is one of Al Pacino's best films ever.

"It started out as a simple bank robbery on a calm afternoon day in New York, and turned into a chaotic circus for everyone to see."

This film tells the true story of a huge and rather comedic bank robbery gone wrong, and lasting for a whole two days. Al Pacino plays the psycho yet harmless criminal Sonny Wortzik. The reason I say harmless is because he is actually an extremely friendly person in the film, and doesn't actually harm anyone, which makes him unique and an even better character. He partners up with his best friend Sal (John Cazale), the paranoid yet dedicated counterpart to Sonny. They were both the perfect actors for the roles.

As the bank robbery coincides, there life's are exposed to the media, and they get more and more eager to get out of there with there loads of money. I forgot to mention what the money was for. It was actually for a sex change for Sonny's boyfriend, who is in the film for the last half of the film played by Chris Sarandon.

They are able to make a deal with the cops and the citizens,(like most robbery films),but the cool and unique thing was, they actually befriended them for two days straight. They request a ride to the airport so they can get as far away as possible. In my opinion, it was a stupid idea in the first place to get the outside world involved, but you know, it made the film that much more humorous.

The climax and the ending to this film are both pretty epic, and I will allow you watch it, opposed to telling you in my review.

"Dog Day Afternoon" is a classic gem and a definite film to remembered for years to come.
