Review of The Legend of Zorro

This movie is a complete joke.

First of all, most characters are underdeveloped and cartoonish. We have the annoying and chaplinesque 6 years old kid, who likes to talk about the opression of peasants like a maniac political activist. When "mini Marx" is not yelling big worlds, he kicks trained soldiers in the butt, and escapes every "dangerous" situation like it was nothing. Hard to take the henchman seriously when a kid can outsmart them!
Lets talk about the villains. We have all the evil europeans (THE EVIL FRENCHMAN)! Guess what? They want to destroy America (for reasons you know...). Banderas overacts every scene. It is like watching a silent era movie... C. Zeta-Jones and Banderas has no chemistry at all.

Second the flick is riddled with historical error. This movie is set in 1850!
They talk about The Confederate States of America! What? Did the writer skipped some of their history classes? Most likely, because the Confederate States of America will form later (and I mean more than a decade later)! The flags ('Bear' flag), uniforms, the voting system (they did not use privacy booths), the weapons ("Henry" rifles really?), the damned railroad (should not exist at all yet), and the Pinkertons (they were a private detective agency at that time, not goverment), Slovenia (It was part of Austria-Hungary, and was NOT a country) just to name a "few"... It's almost like they deliberately did all these errors, but sadly we know they are just completely incompetent.

Watch the first for light entertainment, skip this one...
