I decided to go ahead and check this two part series as I was curious. Besides it has Jaimie Alexander which is always a plus. It looks like this is John Shiban's only directorial film as he mostly sticks with television like Supernatural and Breaking Bad. So the opening was interesting and actually kind of creepy. Good on you Jaimie Alexander. That has to be really messed up to be toyed with like that. Well that's disturbing. Okay this is a slow burner, but they do a good job with the creep factor. That ending was interesting. There is even a little extra scene during the credits that makes you wonder. This is way different than I was expecting in a good way! I hope the sequel explains a little more what exactly the whole lore is though. Joseph Lawrence as Deacon was awesome. There wasn't a whole lot of gore, but when it happened it was fairly gruesome. The gunshot scene was gut-wrenching. That finger scene as well was brutal. I think is highly underrated for sure. I think some people who rate it low probably don't get what exactly is going on or something. For me it was a fun ride. I can't wait to see what the sequel has to offer.
