Following the really strong 'X-Men: Days of Future Past', easily the best installment in this franchise, I was really eager to check this new sequel and I was hoping it would be at least just as good. Unfortunately, even though it turned out to be a decent watch, I'm afraid it was a step-down from the previous movie. I mean, it was really spectacular, there was once again a whole bunch of cool and bad-ass super-heros but this story was just not really strong, I'm afraid. I mean, it was just about some super-strong villain who seems unstoppable and, during the last act, there is a huge battle but the heros still manage to prevail. I mean, how many times have we seen this by now? At least, Apocalypse was a really cool villain, absolutely, and I really enjoyed his introduction in ancient Egpyt but they didn't really build on that in my opinion. The other problem I had is that I'm starting to get fed up with those super-hero features overfilled with countless characters. Especially in this case, it took forever to tell what all the older characters had been doing until now and then to introduce all those new characters as well (I was especially disappointed by Psylocke who was displayed on all the promotional material when, in fact, Olivia Munn didn't have much to do except for looking stunning in a very sexy outfit). As a result, there was not much time for the plot at all. Anyway, in spite of its flaws, it was still a decent super-hero feature and I think it is worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
