A good movie

I already saw this movie but, since I have it on DVD, I thought I might as well check it out again. Since 'The Matrix' is such a huge classic, I'm actually quite surprised that this flick is not better known. To be honest, I have to admit that I have never been a huge fan of 'The Matrix' but I thought I should give this animated anthology a try anyway. Eventually, even though it might seem surprising, it turned out to be my favorite movie in this franchise. First of all, the animation was just really impressive, except for ‘Final Flight of the Osiris’. Indeed, especially if you watch it 20 years later, the animation for this segment feels now so outdated, it’s like watching a cheap animation scene from some PS2 game. The rest  was still really neat though. Basically, they used different animation techniques, it made the whole thing rather experimental and very fascinating to watch. Eventually, not all the stories were all amazing but I thought that they all had something interesting to say. I especially loved the story explaining what happened between the humans and the robots. In my opinion, it was one of the biggest problems with this franchise, the fact that they kept trying to explain some non-sense with even more non-sense. Since we were dealing here with some short stories, they didn't have this problem and it resulted in something much more compelling to watch. Animation was also the perfect the medium to display the matrix as it did add a surreal vibe which was very often missing from the live-action films. For some reason, this anthology also reminded me of the Netflix series ‘Love, Death & Robots’. Anyway, to conclude, I think it was actually a successful experiment and if you are fan of 'The Matrix', it is definitely a must-see.
