Review of The 5th Wave

So I have been meaning to go watch this. I adore Chloe Moretz and also post-apocalyptic stories. Of course you must go in expecting the whole big romance subplot that's typically in these. I mean it was even shown in the trailers. The whole idea of this one though really had my interest. So far I have loved every film J Blakeson has been a part of with Descent Part 2 and the Disappearance of Alice Creed. It took three writers to take on the screenplay. Susannah Grant is actually fairly well known by her movies. She has written Pocahontas, Charlotte's Web (Live Action), The Soloist, and even wrote and directed the movie Catch and Release. Now her skill is a bit of a roller coaster with some of them being great and some of them being less than average. Akiva Goldsman is way better known however by name. The only movie I have seen from him that was actually bad was Batman & Robin. Everything else I have pleasantly enjoyed. Jeff Pinkner wrote Amazing Spider-Man 2 which I really enjoyed, but was majorly disappointed with the ending. Everything else he has under his belt has yet to come out. Oh wow what a way to start it all off. Yeah yeah typical teenage angst go on. Okay that first wave was pretty intense. Oh wave two plays on my guilty pleasure of disaster flicks. Although I always find it hilarious when someone just stares at something that will clearly kill them. Well that seems like a pretty pathetic way to quarantine people. Third wave could be emotional, but it wasn't quite as exciting (I mean um intense) as the first two. Well of course there is a whole Invasion of the Body Snatchers scenario. Holy crap. That was messed up! Is it just me or does Ben Parish feel like Peeta from Hunger Games when he got corrupted? I mean they are both sickly looking with little to no joy. Children used as an army once again. I guess you can only be so original with that. I did not even realize that was Maika Monroe seeing as I'm so used to her being blonde. Look at Cassie over here perving lol. Aww that was kind of sweet of him. I like the concept of villains lighting up as green rather than the typical red. Red is my favorite color, but I'm always up for something new. I mean I kind of had a feeling that was the twist, but I didn't expect it to be all like that. That's actually pretty awesome as well as insane. Oh I did not see that twist coming! So love is basically an alien concept to aliens lol Man Chloe Moretz sure looks good in camo. Ya think seeing as he literally just said that. Well with that ending I'm going to need them to go and continue the series. I enjoyed the characters. The acting was fine. It was pretty dark through most of it which I usually appreciate with these. The romance was a little corny. I'm just glad it didn't have a lot of the focus. Overall I really enjoyed it and thought it was a fun one.
