Following his surprising success with 'Ice Age', instead of making some sequels (which would still be produced by Blue Sky with some massive box-office returns), Chris Wedge decided to deliver some original work and he should be definitely praised for that choice. Unfortunately, his next directing efforts didn't turn to be huge like his directing debut. In fact, I really liked a lot 'Robots' and I believed it is really underrated so I was quite eager to see his last movie which once again didn't get much love. Well, eventually, even though I had some rather high expectations, I'm afraid it turned out to be rather disappointing. I mean, I had no complaints about the animation, it was completely gorgeous and, just for that, you might need actually to check out this movie. Basically, the main problem was that the story was in fact rather boring, to be honest. I mean, it went beyond the fact that I have seen enough animated features with a very similar tale (such as 'Arthur et les minimoys' or 'The Ant Bully'), it's just that it was seriously generic and quite frankly really tedious. Anyway, to conclude, even though the whole thing definitely had some potential, it didn’t like it much but I still think it is worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
