Review of Everest

Thoughts before I watched this.
1. What could be more horrifying or thrilling than trying to survive Mother Earth?
2. The cast here is quite well put together.
3. I almost always get a kick out of survival types of movies.
4. This should be much more realistic than Vertical Limit was.
5. It's directed by Baltasar Kormakur who did 2 Guns (which had a lot of comedy to it) and Contraband so this seems to be different sort of film for him.
6. This is written by two excellent screenplayers.
7. You have William Nicholson who wrote Unbroken, Les Miserables, and Gladiator which are all amazing films in my opinion.
8. You also have Simon Beaufoy who wrote 127 Hours and Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
9. That is enough for me to know I'm absolutely going to enjoy this.

"A hiking expedition on Mt. Everest is devastated by a severe snow storm."

Thoughts while I watched this.
1. Some interesting facts like 20 groups competing to summit Everest!
2. It's one of those where we a scene from later in the film and then go back before the events even happened. *Sigh*
3. That bridge is way too high for my comfort.
4. Woohoo Jake Gyllenhaal.
5. Texans don't always have country accents...
6. I'm not comfortable with this ladder situation.
7. I don't think that's a good sign!
8. There are is a lot of headbutting and bad judgements going on.
9. Almost halfway through this and it's all just setting up for what will happen.
10. The acting is pretty good, but I'm needing something interesting to happen soon.
11. There are a few close calls here and there though I guess to try and add a little tension.
12. Now that that time is going by in closer increments I feel things are not boding as well for these climbers as things have been.
13. I actually find all these guys rather likable although when they are all covered it's hard to figure who is who.
14. I wasn't expecting that to happen.
15. Yikes that is looking ugly now.
16. So really the intensity of this is about them trying to make it back down after making the summit.
17. That has to be terrifying to witness firsthand!
18. Damn just like that...
19. Falling off of Everest has to be a horrible way to go.
20. So many frozen people :(
21. Didn't even notice they left him behind!
22. That is a lot of snow.
23. Mother Nature can be so cruel.
24. Oh man that was emotional. :(
25. OMG that is just amazing and moving!
26. That has to be pure will power damn!
27. This was a very ensemble story where several people were treated importantly.
28. The pilot is pro as hell!
29. I wonder why bodies are left on Everest?
30. Is it to memorialize and immortalize their love for climbing?
31. Aww such a beautiful ending.

Thoughts after I watched this.
1. The imagery captured throughout is quite stunning.
2. All the people were quite likable and interesting to see some of who they were.
3. The writing is excellent.
4. The only issues I really had was that the pacing and length of the film were a bit stretched.
5. There were a few moments that could have been a little shorter.
6. I'm unfamiliar with the true story of which this is based so I had no idea what would happen to whom.
7. It's a pretty emotional movie with several parts I really enjoyed.
8. I wouldn't say it's a perfect film or even one of my favorites though.
9. It is worth seeing though at least once.
