Review of American Idiot

This album was the first album I ever got, given to me by my father after me asking about who sang "Wake Me Up When September Ends". He handed me the album, and little did I know this album would eventually save my life through a spiral of depression that I still suffer with today. However, watching their videos reminded me I wasn't alone. The songs were poetry beyond anything I've ever heard before, and still to this day, Green Day is my favorite band. Call me obsessed if you will. This album had soft and hard songs that I would listen to for days and days on end. Now 20 years old, I still have yet to find an album with such angst, passion, and concern for not only an individual but for a nation in underlying tones found between the lines. I felt like Saint Jimmy, the story this album is based around. And for that, I became more aware of the world around me, and found a favorite band along the way.
