All good things must come to an end… and unfortunately, that includes the Japanese 1980s!

And fittingly, 1989 arrives carrying some very, very heavy themes. This was the year the decade truly peaked, where Japan said goodbye to some of the most legendary figures in its long history, where the country once again flexed its creativity and cultural influence, and where Japan had fully regained its confidence as a nation that could not only eat its own lunch… but probably yours, too!
