Welcome back! Today we’re talking about Foundation, one of the sci-fi greats! A classic that has shaped all sci-fi in the decades since it’s publication and still influences the genre to this day.
There are 7 books in this series. Asimov wrote the first 3 books all the way back in the 1940s, in small pieces across magazines. Then nearly 40 years later he finally wrote two sequel novels, and two prequel novels, bringing the total number to 7.
Asimov wrote over 500 books in his lifetime. Yet of all his works, Foundation is among his most famous, and perhaps, his best.
Let’s have a look at all seven of these books. We’ll discuss the changes in style between each period, the history of how they were written and published, and how they have influenced sci-fi for nearly 80 years. Hopefully, I’ll convince you to give them a try.
