Album : Debut. (Bonus Track)
Composer David Arnold commissioned "Play Dead" for the Harvey Keitel film Young Americans, and the sweeping song was issued on the heels of Debut's reléase in 1993. Recorded with a 6o-piece orchestra as well as bassist Jah Wobble, the song features lyrics inspired by the film. "It was actually fun because the charácter in the film was suffering and going through hardcore tough times and at the time i was at my happiest," Bjork later said. "It was quite liberating to sit down after writing a whole álbum and write from someone else's point of view."
In spite of being relatively difficult to find, "Play Dead" has remained a fan favorite through the years -- Bjork resurrected it for parts of her Vespertine tour while fans earmarked it for inclusión on the 15-track Greatest Hits.
