Translating the main theme song "When Will We Meet Again" (何日再相見) from the Return of the Condor Heroes 1983 (神鵰俠侶) into English.

Original Cantonese Song by Teresa Cheung (張德蘭).

The 1983 series was made by TVB based on the Return of the Condor Heroes (神鵰俠侶) novel by Jin Yong (金庸), who is also referred to as Louis Cha in English.

The 1983 TVB series is considered a classic and is still the most popular adaptation of the story as it features powerful performances from Andy Lau (劉德華) as Yang Gor (楊過) and Idy Chan (陳玉蓮) as Xiaolongnü (小龍女). Even the author Jin Yong said it was his favorite adaptation of his novels and that he enjoyed it very much. He thought Andy Lau was perfect as Yang Gor. I myself like the 1995 TVB series more because it was truer to the novel. The 1983 series also had an excellent cast. It's quite an extensive list so I will focus on a few people only. Of note is Kent Tong (湯鎮業) as the Mongolia prince Huodu (霍都). This for me was a rather strange and odd casting to place what is essentially a star actor in a minor role. Bryan Leung (梁家仁) played an older Guo Jing (郭靖) and Susanna Au Yeung (歐陽佩) played an older Huang Rong (黃蓉). They were probably the best actors around at the time to take the mantle from Felix Wong and Barbara Yung in the sequel. To date they are the highest profile actor and actresses to have played Guo Jing and Huang Rong in the Return of the Condor Heroes. Meanwhile Simon Yam (任達華) played a support role and Alex Man (萬梓良) appeared at the start of the series in a cameo. I enjoyed both performances.

The novel, Return of the Condor Heroes, is pretty popular in China and worldwide. For those interested, I highly recommend reading the fan adaptation of the novel in English is available at:

As with this song, I didn't really like it as a kid. But now that I have translated it into English, I enjoy it a lot more. How strange... As per usual, I didn't do a literal translation but approached it from what made sense in English. So enjoy.

I am willing to take requests to translate other TVB or wuxia songs in the comments section.
Also please subscribe and share with your friends and help grow this channel. The more subscribers, the more songs I'll translate to English!
