Adam Driver is having a formidable 2019: First he battled zombies in ‘The Dead Don’t Die,’ which kicked off the Cannes Film Festival, and next month he enters a very different battle, one for his family, in ‘Marriage Story.’ Plus, he’s got his – seemingly – final outing as Kylo Ren in ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ this December. One of his most buzzed-about roles of the year, though, is in Amazon’s ‘The Report,’ the acclaimed true story about senate staffer Daniel Jones (Driver) and the creation of the 6,700-page Senate Intelligence Committee’s report into the CIA’s use of torture following 9/11. The movie is written and directed by Scott Z. Burns and has been in the awards conversation since it premiered at Sundance earlier in the year. Rotten Tomatoes’ editor Jacqueline Coley sat down with Driver, Burns, Jones himself, and co-stars Jon Hamm and Annette Bening (who plays Senator Dianne Feinstein), ahead of the film’s release on November 15 to talk about the importance of the story and the challenges of playing real-life newsmakers. Plus, we asked Driver what he’s making of his incredible year.
