South Koreans mark 72 years since end of Japanese rule

South Koreans are celebrating National Liberation Day, marking 72 years since the end of Japanese colonial rule.

One of the main events is the ceremonial ringing of the Boshingak bell in central Seoul.

The bell is revered by South Koreans.

And Chul-min Shin, the man whose sole responsibility is ringing the bell, told his story to Al Jazeera.
