Tata Steel has confirmed it plans to cut 1,050 jobs, including 750 at Port Talbot, the UK's biggest steelworks. It has been losing ยฃ1M ($1.4M) a day - and has swallowed ยฃ3M of investment in the last four years. The reason for the difficulties are not particularly new ones: slowing demand and a seemingless endless supply of cheaper Chinese commodities - plus higher energy costs here.

Emily Maitlis spoke to actor Michael Sheen who grew up in the Port Talbot area and has made a film set there, and Industry Minister Anna Soubry.
