NEW YORK — Never mind the headlines, the afternoon belonged to Lineisy Montero as she opened the Jason Wu Spring / Summer 2016 runway show at Spring Studios in Tribeca. The Dominican beauty’s high fashion credentials have never been in doubt and today were further burnished by her commanding performance in the opening berth on the catwalk. Don’t just take Lineisy’s agency’s word for it, though. “A star in the making,” effused the designer himself as he posted a runway shot of Lineisy to his Instagram not long after the show. Lineisy’s will climb even higher, just wait. On the afternoon Grace Hartzel, Anais Mali, Binx, Hedvig Palm, and Liza O also featured on the runway. The show program carried only one descriptor, “glamour,” which when expressed by a man who has previously dressed First Lady Michelle Obama carries considerable authority. If it was glamour that was being sought, then surely it could have found no better vessel than a half dozen models at Next.
