Back in early 2005 Juliana Hatfield tried a download experiment using the honor system. Basically she had a backlog of unreleased material that never quite made it onto any albums for one reason or another. She made them available for download via her website. If you liked what you heard, you could donate via PayPal.
She felt "someone out there might get something out of them" and she was right. There were some real gems for the hardcore fan.
My favorite song from the download experiment was...and still is "Number 1." Here's what Juliana had to say about the song. Quote
"Number 1 features Mike Leahy on lead guitar. You might remember him from my Please Do Not Disturb EP- he played on As If Your Life Depended On It He was also in a touring version of the Blake Babies, a long time ago. I played everything else on #1 - bass, keyboards, other guitars. The drums are a loop- done by a machine. Dave Cook, extraordinary engineer of both In Exile Deo and God's Foot, engineered #1."
Since the mp3's are no longer available for download, I thought why not share my favorite with the world in the form of a silly YouTube tribute video/photo montage...yes...my first experiment with Windows Movie Maker. Enjoy
