Weeds review

Posted : 11 years, 12 months ago on 30 April 2012 07:21

Throughout the many changes with setting, and cast, and plot points, Weeds still has proven to be one of my favorite series no matter what. Its scandalous plot points, with some predictable twists and turns, mixed with a great dose of dark humor that always hits the right spot. I am so psyched that it has received another season pick up, but I wouldn't mind if it turned out to be the last. Nothing good can last forever, especially on TV, but it would be great to see it go out with a bang.. a well thought out bang.

one of the best

(may be considered spoiler if you haven't seen season 1. you are warned!)

This is clearly one of the best written series ever. Each episode goes by very fast, and the plot is still interesting. I watched the entire season 1 in one day, I was so hooked on it. It is well written, and pretty well directed. Most actors are not that known, other than Mary Louise Parker and Elizabeth Perkins. Hunter Parrish is very good as the eldest son, Shoshannah Stern as his deaf girlfriend is brilliant and Martin Donovan as Nancy's boyfriend is also excellent. The rest of the cast simply fits, and all characters are well acted and actually quite believable. The entire plot of the series is fantastic.
The music of season 1 is particularly charming (the theme song is great), however season 2's theme song as interpreted by different artists, just doesn't appeal to me.
All in all, the best series ever seen in at least 20 years (for me anyway).
Thank you to my friend Jessica for having recommended it!

Wow...

Having watched all of season one and two of Weeds I am now eagerly awaiting the third. The end of season two was such a crescendo of events which left me stunned and staring at my screen wanting more.

The show in general is fantastic in it's concept. It's dark humour is just right, the individual characters' dysfunctions perfectly measured, and the plot so far has presented plenty of twists and turns to keep the viewers interested. Throw in the at times eccentric music, which might I add fits perfectly, and it makes for a great show.
