Hmm, 3 favorite war movies:

Platoon - DAMN good film. I'd say this film changed my life and views on a few things and I'm glad I watched it. Oliver Stone did a hell of a job.

Saving Private Ryan - One of the goriest and most realistic war films I've watched.

Full Metal Jacket - I think this film actually made me sick the first time I saw it, but I thought it was so well done. Excellent cinematography, Kubrick really knew how to take those angles.
