When/How did you find Listal?

Simple, you tell everyone how/when you came across this website. Don't forget, Alt Accounts don't count!
It was recommended to me by a friend. Everything from the Collection Database to the List Making is right up my street.
I was a member from January last year up until March. I had my final months of Uni and a dissertation to write so I just put Listal on hold. After some 'hardworking' and some proper party hard shennanigans, I came back around July and have added yo my account since then.
Your turn.

i was bored so i did searches and found it

I used to have 3 accounts keeping track of what Listal keeps in one. Then on a random day of surfing, I discovered Listal and have since become addicted.

A friend of mine on another forum recommended it to me. I didn't think it was my kind of thing, but I quickly got hooked. I like enhancing the music database these days.

I was trying to make a CD devoted solely to songs about coffee. I couldn't find a certain song by War Rocket Ajax, and them I came across Wyrmslayer here, who had the CD, an voila.

I was looking for a place to keep track of all the money I've wasted that was free. It took me about three days of internet searching before I found listal. You wouldn't believe how many people pay for this type of service.

I actively looked for it, a place to catalogue all my movies (DVD sites won't do cause 2/3 of my movies are on VHS), the same way I use rateyourmusic for music. I didn't like what IMDb offered for cataloguing.
I searched the RYM boards for "rateyourmovies" discussions, googled for more discussions and comparisons, and checked out the sites on what kind of titles they had in their database, specially "old" and "foreign" films, and also compared how many ratings they'd received. Listal came the winner.
After joined (about 5 months ago), I realised you can add any film in the IMDb to your collection, the films amount to a proper "catalogue" not just a list of ratings, you can use tags to organise your collection, and that you can make lists (both private & public). A few days ago I was pointed out that I can add personal notes to each film title, which means I can use Listal to keep track of which films are on which videotape.
So basically Listal works for me.
The "discover" aspect is still a bit lacking, because there isn't exactly an active community of people with similar tastes to mine having discussions and writing reviews etc. But I'm sure this'll change. On the other hand, I use Listal for wanted lists, shopping lists (prices in different stores included in comments), as well as watching/uploading trailers so Listal does actually help me discover movies.
How's my typing getting along?

I found it in september I was randomly searching the internet for a report about the japanese god of death Yama and ended up finding kinookami (Yama's url)

I was trying to make a CD devoted solely to songs about coffee. I couldn't find a certain song by War Rocket Ajax, and them I came across Wyrmslayer here, who had the CD, an voila.
That is the most weird and interesting excuse I've ever heard and would love to hear what songs are only about coffee.
Anyway there was a site called Guzzlefish that I tried to use to list some of my collection and it went down so I went looking for a new one and found Listal.

I came across this site by getting on one of my friends Yahoo Accounts. I ignored it then...But when Ana and Takara tryed to sign me up I said "I already made an account." As soon as I came home from school I made my account (this was in augest 2007) I became friends with Lots of people. I deleted my account many times but came back. That's My story.

Ana, Ina, and Aya made me....-.-

I found Ninja Master Genkai's "make your own jutsu" thread and I had just thought of a flaming fart one and I wanted to add it, so a few weeks later I got my account.

I'm pretty sure a podcast recommended it to me. (Unfortunately I don't listen to podcasts as much as I used to back then). I could be wrong. Either way the main reason was to stop my so called friends "forgetting" to return things to me.
I've been here for almost two years now I suppose. Sigh... and I still lose stuff (although not as much as before).

I just couldn't resist seeing as I love them lawyer games so much but ah....
www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgWj2UEOKpA
It's the theme song of one of the characters... who drinks ridiculous amounts of coffee. Additionally it's my ringtone.

It's a video game where you get to be a "lawyer"
Godot, one of the prosecutors drinks ALOT of coffee. I'm sorry if it was too off-topic but I was just reminded by it.

Ok, I just didn't connect the dots from coffee to lawyers....LOL.
Wyrmslayer rocks, by the way. I wish he would sign on more.

Wyrmslayer rocks, by the way. I wish he would sign on more.I don't really blame him. If I were to compare Listal to how it was when I first got here to now it's alot different, and I'm not talking about all the fancy new things Tom has added.
And 'sides not everyone has something to add to their list every day.

I was searching for a social networking site for book lovers and came across Listal listed on some website that was cataloguing all the different types of websites. I um'ed and ah'ed about it for about a week, did some reading, investigated some other sites and then thought I'd join for the hell of it while I still looked for a book lovers site.

I had a guzzlefish account. Hated it. hardly ever used it.
That's why I went looking for something else and found Listal.

There was a DVD collection thread on the Atari forums. At first the thread starter practically forced everyone to link to a dvdaf.com account rather than cluttering the screen with marathon-sized posts, but someone popped in and out with the link to Listal and, after joining, I tried my best to drag everyone else into it.

Listal was recommend on a post on LibrayThing. I love LibraryThing, but I wanted something similar but for DVDs and Music as well...

Much like Woobaby, Listal was suggested on a book website that I frequent as another option to LibraryThing.

I used to catalog my movies offline (collectorz.com software) but it was a pain to let my friends and family know what I had. I tried a few other online sites that only dealt with movies, but once i found listal, i was impressed with how quickly its admin made changes and added improvements, and impressed at how near fully-open the database was, so we can add/edit our own pictures and movie posters. and that's when i got off crack and smack; i now had a new addiction :)

I came across Listal in early January 2007. There's an intersting story behind how I found it actually! I was surfing Yahoo images for Mallrats images because at the time I had an addiction to finding as many photos from the movie as possible. I still do that but very rarely now. Anyway, I found Listal on January 10, 2007. I was at my local library and it was close to closing time so I decided to create my account the next day. The photo that linked with Listal was this photo from a book titled "Mallrats", but this book had no connection with Kevin Smith. I actually have some of this up on my profile which says: "I actually found Listal completely by accident! I was searching for images on Mallrats and I found a weird book with MALLRATS as the title. I clicked on it and I looked around the site and was impressed with it. The rest is history!" So from there I began to become obsessed with Listal. It was also a little over two months after I joined that I found my girlfriend Jenn here on Listal!! If it wasn't for Listal I would've never found the love of my life!! She's made me so happy! :) Listal is a special site for me. That's my story!

wow. I knew Listal can change your life, but Brodie, damn. lol
congrats for you two.

Dang!... We should have a section for Listal romances! :P

Listal has changed my life! It allowed me to meet the most awesome woman EVER!! :) Thanks for the congrats.

will the mods be invited to the wedding? lol

Fancy party and free booze? Count me in!

If you're planning to fork out for plane tickets...I'm game!

Nothing as exciting - sometime in late 2005/early 2006 (not sure which), a friend sent me the link over MSN. We're both still on here, although he doesn't venture onto the boards to my knowledge.

Holy crap, Physch, stop talking so much. I don't want your life story. ;)

I joined in may 2006. A co-worker was researching sites to help a college class keep track of books related to their studies and share with each other and he found listal. We both created accounts to test it out and I stuck around and used it.
I used to keep the list of books I want to read on an excel spreadsheet so this is WAY better.

i found it threw tom on myspace and my friend told me about it

i found it throw my friend last year in the summer time

I was in an anime club before I moved to the US and they talked about how listal was about anime but I figured the name didn't really match anime but I went on it and I found that I liked it :)

you are joking aren't you defender? I can't really tell, I have no sense of humor at the moment.

i was looking some stuff up on Alltheweb and one of the links brought me to a thread on Listal. it looked like a cool place to me, so i joined and i've had a good time chatting with people and bickering with others

oh, and it was roughly November last year when i found Listal.

I found it several times, but I ignored it most of the time.
I saw the create your own jutsu thread Sonshi had up way back in like August. I decided I'd keep an eye on that site and see if I liked it, the next week I searched White Noise and I found it here, so I joined cuz it seemed like a good place to expand all resource knowledges, thanks to this place I have gotten partly over my anime craze, I have start watching a lot more mature shows(Mostly stuff like NCIVS or something, and stuff like Law And Order, oh and Monk lolz) I also started watching more mature Animes, I found out about a few interesting Animes and Mangas, as well as I am Legend, AVP-R and the Golden Compass(ALL OF WHICH I HAVEN'T SEEN CUZ MY CHEAPASS MOM WON'T SPEND A MEASLY 5$ A TICKET!)
