Inappropriate Tags

Greetings,

I couldn't find a better place for this, but whatever, a warning example shall it be then. I'd suggest the following titles should be checked on account of some very obvious spamming:

www.listal.com/movie/satantango
www.listal.com/movie/pierrot-le-fou
www.listal.com/movie/stalker
www.listal.com/jean--luc-godard
www.listal.com/ingmar-bergman
www.listal.com/andrei-tarkovsky
www.listal.com/andrey-tarkovskiy
www.listal.com/anna-karina
www.listal.com/liv-ullmann

Seems that someone with multiple accounts has been having the time of his/her life adding recently the tags Overrated, All Of His Films Are Overrated By Listal Users, Terrible, One Bad Film After Another, Unintelligent, Crap, Lame, Tedious, Boring, Asshole, Stupid, Silly, Pathetic, Judgemental, Awful, One Bad Film After Another and EXTREMELY OVERRATED to these. Just asking to wipe them out since they are nothing but spam.

Incidentally some of these particular titles gained attention in Listal's 100 Movies project of 2013. Someone probably felt insulted because of the huge amount of their votes. I'm neither referring to anyone particular (although I have my presumptions) nor excluding the possibility of numerous people protesting against the canons of these titles (although it's very hard to believe that such collective idiocy exists here too). Hopefully this will be investigated, nobody wants to see such abuse of the tag-feature here.

Alot of directors, actors, movies etc. are tagged with "overrated" and so on.

www.listal.com/directors/overrated

www.listal.com/actors/overrated

www.listal.com/movies/overrated

I wouldn't take it personally.

There have also been lists on Listal that have been huge hits about tags.

you shouldn't care too much about the tags and, honestly, I don't really see the purpose of tags anyway expect for trashing something or someone you don't like. Anyway, lately, there is someone creating fake/spare accounts only (I thought) to react on this forum (check the thread 'why is there so many Finnish people on Listal' www.listal.com/topic/why-there-so-many-finnish ) but, apparently this person also used those accouts to tag those films... And like you, I'm pretty sure it has to do with the list 'listal's 100 films to see...'

Seriously, he/she should get a life... But you shouldn't care too much about this

Agreed, not something to worry too much about. Anyway tags do have a purpose. I use them to look for a genre, a theme, or something like that. For instance, by clicking on "glam rock" you should be able to find glam rock albums on Listal, or in your own music, or in your contacts' music :)

I wished I wouldn't have to explain further why these tags should definitely be removed, but here we go then.

I don't consider this a personal insult towards myself or my taste of cinema at all, which I thought to be self-explanatory. The real issue here is that you can't see the useful tags anymore. Instead you'll witness someone's personal opinions (and I most seriously doubt these are the honest opinions of this person...) highlighted there. The message would be perfectly clear with just one "Crap" but now we have like dozens of synonyms and other corresponding words and expressions which is rather... not so informative. Just ignoring and leaving them there isn't how you keep a site's appearance clean, it's as if you'd give this spammer a free ticket to mess around as much as he/she wants. If multiple accounts are already forbidden here, why shouldn't adding these tags be as well?

Indeed, tags are not so much to get sweaty about, but all attempts to damage a site's surface on purpose just cannot be tolerated, were they as insignificant as this one or not.

I'm going to drop a few thoughts on this as well: what about the obviously profane or down-right insulting. I won't report it here, but please look at Michelle Obama's profile and look at one of the tags? I mean, seriously,...how come that word is even allowed here?

More lovely sentiments:

Tags: Model (3), Actress (2), Female (2), Romanian (2), Busty (2), Hot (2), August 8 (2), Born 1988 (2), Just Another Slut (1), Nothing (1), Nobody (1), Big Boobs (1), N. 1 (1), European (1), Would Do Her (1), 1988 (1), 2008 Peroni Calendar (1), MIZERIE (1), Slatina (1), Empty Head Big Boobs (1)

Doesn't stop there! There's a duplicate page with even more wonderful thoughts. Is it just childish antics or jealousy?

Maybe a few words of advice could be useful in the Add Tags dialog screen?

Something like...

Tags should be descriptive, not to express how you feel: you already have Reviews, Ratings and Lists for that. Avoid tags like Good, Bad, Stupid, Awful etc.

Please do not add cast or crew or author as tags.
