Personally the only lesbian 'romance' I've seen on screen was in...
www.listal.com/movie/v-for-vendetta
Great movie, but even that movie didn't end well for the couple!

Great movie, but even that movie didn't end well for the couple!

Start with these two;
www.listal.com/movie/naissance-des-pieuvres
www.listal.com/movie/fucking-amal-show-me-love

V for vendetta is a good one for what your looking for, theres also somewhat of a lesibian plot in Planet Terror and Girl Interuppted, both movies having women who find other women better then their current straight sexuality.

This was a great one:

Also, this one had one of the most intense lesbian scenes in cinema:

There is a movie called "Fucking Amal". It's a drama about two young lesbians who live in a danish village called Amal. It's pretty good.

A agree with Bound, a pretty intense movie. Monster is another good one.

Why is it that most lesbians are so self obsessed and 2 dimensional?

I know, its like;
Interests: Same sex marriage, lesbiana, lesbians, short hair cuts, plaid.
Hobbies: being a lesbian, hanging with lesbians
Fav TV: The L-Word
"I was a lesbian yesterday and I won the lottery"

"Whats your opinion on the war in Afghanistan?"
"Well as a Lesbian I just find it outrageous that theres no pride march in Kabul this year because those damn Muslims don't allow it!"
"Whats your favorite food?"
"Prawn Cocktail Crisps, Fish, Marmite"
"Who are your heroes?"
"Well theres Ellen, Willow from Buffy, The cast of The L word, The girls from Sugarush... They are just so...you know.....deep"
"What are your ambitions in life?"
"I want to be a footballer/King/Post Man/Penis Model or anything else I can't have because I am female, failing that the first Lesbian something"
Fucks sake, I have wound myself up a bit now, why can't people accept their sexuality does not make them a race or a separate entity! We spend all this time telling each other that all black/white/brown/yellow people are equal and the same, people start to just get on with it and then all these dick heads come along and start acting like they need to make a stand because they prefer their own gender to the opposite. No one cares who you find attractive!!!!!!!! Just get on with it and stop announcing yourselves so damn much its not like it matters who's doing who in some film/book does it??! Really?

Chasing Amy is the only movie I've seen that comes close to that title.

Wow... ah... ok... well to the first point
"can anyone recommend any lesbian romance movies?"
Why, yes... yes I can..
TLA video is pretty must the place to check out all the latest queer titles. From there you can check and see if your rental place has any of the listed titles.
Here is a link to their "Top Lesbian Films"

Tipping the Velvet - Sweet but still a bit gritty made for TV mini series that got screened at various festivals.
High Art - Is my friends favorite
Imagine Me and You - Is one of my favorite lesbian movies but I'm boy inclined so having Matthew Goode tossed in there to distract me was a good call.
"Bound" is a must. "Aimรฉe & Jaguar", has been mentioned. Gia and Fire have been sitting in my queue for some time... heard good things but can't swear by them.
"Chasing Amy" always felt more like a straight guy flick that just happen to have a bisexual female around.
Eeek and "Boys Don't Cry" is great and sweet but only worth watching if you have Prozac handy... you have been warned ;)
