15 years, 5 months ago at Nov 10 21:45 - I'm not sure if any of these are in the pipeline, but I thought I'd bring them to the forefront again anyway. Here are a few suggestions I had to try and improve the site a bit.
Adding items to the database
1. When I add a new album to the music database there is the option to "Add to Owned" or "Add to Heard". Sometimes I just want to add the album in order to add the music artist who made it to the database and I haven't actually heard it. Could you add an option that just says "Add to the database" or whatever instead?
2. Also, it's a bit of a pain to add an artist and album to the database, I think it should be worth a few points (awarded retroactively if possible!). There are a few artists who aren't on listal or amazon that are in my collection that I just have no incentive to add!
List creation:
1. I think this should be a priority as I feel like I pick up RSI whenever I make a list. Having buttons which quick-generate html code are a must! For example, when you press the [B] button which would pop up at the top of the box when you click 'Add note' on a list item, it would generate: [b][/b] with the cursor flashing in the middle. Then you can also have a button for I, U, Centre, Right and more importantly all the image code options we have at listal. Typing them out is one of the biggest chores on the site.
2.This following code is very handy when adding images: 'img id=498538 width=60full' But is there any way to change that code to make it link the image back to its listal url?
3. Give me the option to view more than 50 items per list when I look at other people's work!

2. The 'post an image' button should be at the top of the images screen rather than the bottom, as when you add an image the page always refreshes and takes you back to the top. It should also be a button rather than just the three words, it needs to be more obvious.
3. Individual images should have the option to 'Make primary image'. That means I don't have to go back to the items page full of pictures and find it again.

1. Please don't let older lists die! Every ten or fifteen votes after the current highest vote total for promotion should ensure a bit of survivability to them. Otherwise they have to rely on stumbleupon!
2. When I comment on someone's list, I almost always forget straight away. In reality I'd like to be told if someone else has replied, or at least there should be a link in my recent activity that tells me I've commented on someone's list/review.
3. Any way to prevent reviews and lists that aren't written in English from appearing under a film, or maybe even on the front page? I always thought that was a bit off.

Also, could it be possible to add Actors/Character lists to the specific movies they are in so that it appears on the Movies Lists Section?

How about having a set of featured lists which get promoted to the main page regularly - sort of like Wikipedia's featured articles? (As an addition to the current promotion mechanisms). Lists could go become featured when they have a certain number of votes or the mods could add them (as there are some cool lists that haven't got that many votes - movie and actor lists always seem to get more votes than book lists for instance). Then the main page would regularly have some of the best lists on the site featured.

Could this be changed so that the feed logs this when a list is made Public for the first time (and only the first time)? Otherwise with the people you are following you might miss out on a list that they've been working on for a while and only just made viewable.
Very picky but is it possible to add the privacy options on the page when you select which medium your list involves and type the name? Otherwise, you've got to add an item, then go to the list and then edit it.
I can remember reading this somewhere else in the forum but thought I'd bring it up. Is it possible to have another box on your profile where you can post a selection of lists and reviews you've done? This way you can select the ones people are most likely to look at on your profile.
Alternatively, the Lists box could hold more than 5 lists at a time and be able to change the displey order as opposed to lists that have been added to.

I was pretty sure it did that already but I checked it wasn't so I've corrected that now.

I actually did that deliberately to discourage people from setting lists public instantly, I guess thats annoying for private lists though.

I've noticed a lot of 'Favorite' lists making it through to the Recently published feed on the Lists page lately. Is that because those people are making them public, it logs it and then your setting that makes them go to SP but it still keeps it on the feed?

I would also like to add some ideas about the DVD-Section:
When adding DVDs to the database you can name directors and actors featured on the DVD. But when editing it afterwards this is impossible. Why is that? There are a lot of times that people don't fill in all the relevant names or that they are mis-pronounced (sometimes even the names in imdb change and it would be good if that could be adapted here. It is also impossible to add more than 10 items to the DVD-pages. This is quite little, especially if you consider that some DVDs contain several movies.
Another way to solve all this at once would be to create links between the DVDs and the movies. So that you can add the listal-link to to movie or the IMDb number when you add a DVD (it has to be possible to add mutltiple links/numbers) and then all the actors and directors will be added automatically. For example, I made all those Star Wars book series lists and I'd like to be able to see them all in one 'pure' section without any other lists. It would also make it easier for others to see them all in one place.

When I look at all the images of a film or whatever, you can sort by Views, Votes and Recently Added, but I'd also like to sort by My Votes and Added by me. Thus it would line up every image of the collection I'd voted/or added myself first.

I wouldn't mind adding these. Maybe it's me not finding it??

I've brought up the same point in the past. I tend to delete personal pictures because this option isn't available! Any ideas about this Tom? Like a drag and drop feature?

15 years, 1 month ago at Mar 25 18:40 - Probably been mentioned before, but nimimerkillinen's suggestion reminded me how cool it would be to auto-arrange by different criteria. Title, year, Listal user rating, and in order of ascending and descending. I find myself sorting by year and title all the time. Sure would be cool to do it with the click of a mouse. (And I don't mean over and over! =p)
Just for kicks, a random-izer would be fun as well.
EDIT: On another note, I'd like the site to offer official Listal buttons for people to pick up easily, with already-prepared coding. I've used one of Pedro's Listal Buttons as my forum sig elsewhere. Would be great publicity if these buttons as well as others were officially promoted and encouraged in their usage by the site.
And while I'm on things to use for other sites - what happened to the widgets??? They were awesome!
