1 violation (spam or porn) = minus 100 points

Moderator

Take away 100 points for every spam message or porn-ish image that violates image posting rules.

This would not apply for minor infringements of the rules, like posting an ordinary image but to the wrong section and mistakes like that.

If you like this suggestion, please vote for it in the Suggestion box (General).

Hmmm, interesting idea! I'll give it some thought :)

However, I don't know if it is possible, that the system could automatically take off 100 points every time an image is deleted for porn.

I voted.

Not sure if this should be retro-active. Come to think of it, I don't think that penalizing for past image deletions is even possible.

I would rather Listal end mature content and block uploads to adult actors and actresses. Personally, I feel that we are losing credibility as a site for anything but lists of 'hot babes' and that we are losing the interest of many old timer Listal'ers. Then on the other side we are actively hurting the 'hot babe' accounts and deleting users who upload porn.

It just seem to me that we are killing our Lisal user base from both sides.

Even before mature content was introduced we experienced plenty of problems with lecherous comments on images and harassment of some of our female members. My god... the things that have been written under the profile pictures of under 18yo female members. I'm sorry but I just see the presence of so many derogatory images as an open door to even more of the lecherous elements that we worked hard to be rid of. Listal becomes more of an unsafe place to create an account.

I am not saying that the users that we currently have who upload excessive amounts of 'hot babe/boy' pictures are all lecherous perverts preying on other Listal members. What I *am* saying is that 'how you found Listal' becomes more and more about one-handed image trolling for porn stars.

In the past, Listal members have not reported being the object of harassment and it took monitoring the global feed to find abusive members. I would rather have a site where members felt safe... yes... even if that does mean sacrificing some of our current content.

@PK:
Thanks for your vote and the direct link!

@jaytoast:
Yes, I would allow only one headshot on "porn people" profiles. That would help a lot. But I have no idea if that is ever going to happen. In the meanwhile we have to live with all that and all we can do is report violating images. Problem is, it feels like emptying the sea with a bucket. A 100 point penalty per porn-ish image could make reporting much more effective than it is now. The same penalty should apply for NSFW lists that are not tagged as Mature content.

I agree that it would be great if people could not upload images to porn star profiles. However, there is still the issue of people uploading porn/nudity onto their personal galleries.

^ That's not a very fair thing to say :(
How do you know how much time we spend moderating content on this site? You don't see what goes on behind the scenes.

There are lots of mods on here that are very active and care more about the quality of the site than getting points (in fact, a lot of us mods dislike the point system because of all the spamming it causes). However, there is so much content on Listal that it's just impossible for us to get through all of it. There are almost 5 million images posted on Listal. There are also tons of videos, lists, reviews, comments, and forums posts that we moderate as well.

But I assure that there are plenty of very active mods on this site, who take their job seriously. Also, we are volunteers, just trying to help Tom with the site. Why should have to spend our time deleting tons of images, especially disgusting porno ones if new rules/policies could help reduce the amount being uploaded in the first place?

Yes, some of the mods, do have a lot of points, buts that's because we also really enjoy contributing content and info to this site as users. That's how most of us ended up as mods in the first place, because of our interest in listal and wanting to keep the site at its best.

@DuckNation

hmm maybe some system should be in place and not just points

Well, I understand that some accounts are suspended now and then. But an automatic point penalty would be an effective deterrent to abuses, too.

i mean people post here just because. I'm sure someone here on this site just post for fun and they do not care for points

I guess many users do care for points. Besides, let's add this: if you lose 1000 points, your image/list posting privileges will be revoked for a week. 2000 points, 2 weeks out, and so on. Make that automatic and let's see what happens.

in some sites i use that have a point system the mods themselves tend to care about their own points but tend to the site. Maybe more active mods means less junk on the site.

What do you mean by "more active"? What shoud they do that they don't now?
Besides, checking tons of pornish images must be quite boring, if not disgusting like brazilfashion said.

I don't think anyone needs to be "re-educated".
But, to quote Spidey's uncle, With great power comes great responsibility! :)

@ DuckNation, thank you for clarifying that you meant more active mods as in numbers. Your original wording sounded as if you thought the existing mods were not doing their job.

I like this idea!

I think it could be useful if moderators could just dock points in general. Personally I find duplicate images and such to be just as annoying, so it'd be nice if there was some repercussions for each rule violation. And docking points could be optional for the moderators -- maybe not for the nudity, but they could decide what violations deserve loss of points.

It'd probably be really difficult to get rid of all the adult model profiles on here. Not that I'm against it, but I think at this point there are way too many to ever catch them all [the Pokemon theme totally just started playing in my head]. And I don't think it'd happen at all unless Tom gave the ability to delete profiles to the mods. That's way too much work for just him to take on. Just blocking the uploads would be difficult too, since you'd have to probably set it at each individual profile, same way you'd have to delete each indivudal one.
