Born July 19, 1919 in Geneva, ROBERT PINGET after finishing law school, exerts as a lawyer in Geneva for a year. He left Switzerland in 1946 to Paris, where he entered the Beaux-Arts.
He published his first book, Between Fantoine and Agapa in 1951 . In 1952 , Robert Laffont publishes his first novel, Mahu or the material , under the leadership of Georges Belmont . Then it's The Fox and the compass at Gallimard in 1953 , with the support of Albert Camus , Alain Robbe-Grillet and especially Samuel Beckett , who will remain a great friend of Pinget, advise him to Jérôme Lindon , patron of Editions Midnight .
