Lee was born in Ohio, but has lived in Los Angeles, California since he was nine. His father is a doctor and his mother is a painter and Presbyterian minister.
Lee attended Oberlin School of Music in Ohio to continue his training as a pianist, but became more interested in theatre. After receiving his B.A. from Oberlin, he began to audition for roles in regional theatre. He worked at various retail jobs and also did TV commercials.
His big break came when he signed on to do a four-episode arc in the second season of HBO's Entourage as Ari Gold's assistant, Lloyd. He was so well-received that he became a series regular for the
