Like most successful actors, Rafael was bit by the acting bug when he was very young. Throughout his childhood, he and his friends would put on skits for anyone who would watch. At the age of 19, Rafael began seriously studying acting in local community theaters. Being cast in major roles quickly followed. Of his many theater roles, some of his favorites are the role of The King in "The King and I", Jud Frye in "Oklahoma", Tommy Spinelli in "Nice Guys Finish", Nick Cristano in "Over the River and Through the Woods", Paul Bratter in "Barefoot in the Park", and Stanley Kowalski in "A Streetcar Named Desire". Most recently, Rafael appeared on stage in North Hollywood as Joe Connelly in the zombie horror show of "The Revenants".
While continuing his acting career on major stages, Rafael has been recruited by Hollywood. He has appeared on television in such critically-acclaimed television shows as Prison Break and Friday Night Lights. On film, Rafael has shared the screen opposite such stars as Billy Bob Thorton, Kyle Chandler, Tom Hardy, Anthony Hopkins, and Paul Adelstein.
Although success in Hollywood is coming quickly for Rafael, it has been based on a lot of time paying his dues and honing his acting skills in the theater all across the country, including Off Broadway in New York City. This experience is what gives his performances such depth.
