Description: Rafael van der Vaart, born 11 February 1983, in Heemskerk, Netherlands, is a Dutch footballer who plays for Spanish La Liga club Real Madrid and the Netherlands national team. His preferred position is central midfield as playmaker but is capable of operating on both sides of the midfield. Van der Vaart was born in Heemskerk to a Dutch father and a Spanish mother from Chiclana de la Frontera, Cádiz. He grew up on a caravan park living a "gypsy life".
