It's up for debate whether or not this hellaciously fun, sexed-up, blues-dirge rock band single-handedly "invented grunge" when they burst onto the Seattle scene in the late 1980s. Mudhoney's act notoriously featured loud guitars lathered in distortion, pummeling drum assaults, hair flying all over the place, and a singer who sounded like a drunken, horny werewolf.
