In the Jungle Groove was the first James Brown reissue to provide full-length and unedited versions of his classic funk vamps of the late '60s and early '70s. While later sets have followed its pattern of restoring previously edited music and unearthing previously unissued takes, it remains invaluable for stripping the fake applause off the Sex Machine version of "Give It Up or Turnit a Loose" alone.
