Johnny Cash has recorded several Christmas albums that are served up in his traditional country style. For Classic Christmas, Cash opted to record with the full accompaniment of a studio orchestra and to stay with conventional Christmas carols. Though he includes the upbeat "Joy to the World," he naturally gravitates towards the slower, dramatic carols ("Silent Night," "It Came upon a Midnight Clear") and, with his booming voice, cuts through the tinsel.
