What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) update feed
“What Ever Happened to Baby Jane was a movie I once saw about 7 years ago, and in all honesty some of it traumatised me not just the purposefully grotesque make up but also the snarl-and-shriek chemistry between the two leads. Watching it again, the film maintains its chilling and shocking values, but there is also under the surface a sadness, compassion and campiness(in a good way) that I didn't notice as much previously. What Ever Happened to Baby Jane is essentially a must see movie. " Director: Robert Aldrich His 13th movie My 3rd movie watched from the director This is an effective movie about two very unique sisters and their crazy relationship. It's depressing, scary, and quite entertaining. Crawford and Davis pulled off performances that will go in both their Top Fives for me. I loved the ending especially. Melodramatic? Sure, but it is the best kind of melodrama offered in the late 50s and early 60s. Added to Lists: It's Not Easy Being Sisters Best Performance"
" Notes: Even though I really liked it, to be honest, I wasn't completely sold though. First of all, the whole point was obviously to see two huge acting icons, Joan Crawford and Better Davis, playing some sisters and the fact that they apparently hated each other in real life made the whole thing even more spellbinding to watch. However, even though Davis took some major risks and gave an outstanding performance, Crawford played the whole thing way too safe constantly trying to protect her glam"
