Description:
Set in New York City, Patricia Smith is a middle-class girl in love with Max Silver (Leon Waycoff). Max, however, is pressured by his Jewish family into marrying a woman that he doesn't love in order to advance his medical career. Pat moves on and meets Eddie, a bubble gum machine operator, whom she marries, even though she is still stuck on Max. When Pat reunites with Max, now a respected surgeon, she refuses to have anything to do with the married man. After Pat is hit by a truck, Eddie, who knows about Pat's history with Max, asks the physician for help. After surgery, which saves Pat, she must decide whether to stay with her
